Marian Popescu is a professor at the universities of Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, theater critic, translator of the English dramaturgy, editor, researcher, author of 7 volumes on theater and performing arts.

Professional experience

  • He is a founding member of the Romanian Theater Union (UNITER) and its first Executive Vice President. He coordinated the first programs of UNITER, set up the first theatrical publishing house in Romania (UNITEXT), the first national dramaturgy contest (“Piesa Anului”), the “Theatrical signal” magazine and the Inopportune Theater.
  • He has lectured at universities in Bucharest (ATF/UNATC, Letters, Journalism and Communication Sciences), Sibiu (Letters and Arts – where he set up the Department of Theater Art), Cluj (Faculty of Theater and Film, where he is in charge of PhDs in Theater -The Performing Arts), Université d’Artois and Université Rennes 2.
  • He is a guest expert of the European Commission in the fields of Cultural Cooperation and Literature.
  • He coordinates CARFIA, the Center for Academic Integrity of the University of Bucharest.
  • Holds public speaking workshops for the business area.
