PROCESSES – the label of the new way of working
In virtual teams, communication (formalized or not in formal meetings or sessions), exchange of ideas and opinions, conflict mediation and decision making, delegation and feedback processes – all require changes and may be different compared to face-to-face experiences. Also, the various digital tools and information systems could substantially change the new way of working, as well as the management of processes or projects. In this session, we will provide information and techniques to create the new way of working, such as:
Establish rules for organizing and facilitating virtual meetings, e-mails/video conferences/phone calls/messages (participants, frequency, duration, roles, objectives and decisions).
PEOPLE – openness in relationships
Virtual connections do not provide real time and opportunities to maintain open relationships, due to lack of visibility, censored emotions, personal problems of team members, lack of instant feedback, less spontaneous connections, personal motivation.
IMPACT – Ownership
Involving people is closely linked to personal constraints, and working from home could lead to a loss of focus. Team responsibility is slightly diluted, news delays occur, procedures and priorities change rapidly, managers cannot track team members (especially new recruits or newly formed teams), autonomy is censored or new work rules are not followed.
